Secular Book Club – In Person Dec 1, 2024

Current Book:  from our Palette Cleansers list: “Wiped: The Curious History of Toilet Paper” by Ronald H Blumer.   For this week, we will target wrapping this up [pun recognized].  We will decide how far to dip our toes into the next book at this meeting.

Our next book is  “The Wonder Paradox: Embracing the Weirdness of Existence and the Poetry of Our Lives”  OR   “The Wonder Paradox: Awe, Poetry, and the Meaningful Life”.   It seems that the Kindle version and the other formats have some differences in title and cover art, yet they are all sold on the same page at Amazon.   I skimmed through the sample pages offered for both hardcover and Kindle versions, and I doubt there will be a significant difference in key content.

We gather every week to explore the latest chapters of our selected non-fiction book, engage in lively conversations, and enjoy a relaxed lunch together. Our meetups offer a welcoming environment for those interested in deepening their knowledge on a variety of thought-provoking topics.

Our book club focuses on a wide range of non-fiction genres that inspire curiosity and expand our understanding of the world. From the history of world philosophies and scientific discoveries to the evolution of humanity—both physical and psychological—we cover books that encourage critical thinking and meaningful dialogue. We typically complete a book in 4-6 weeks, allowing for an in-depth exploration of each topic.
